Forgive my absence; I had Christmas cheer to make and I like a long Christmas. Two thousand and ten (twenty-ten? which to go with?) started off in the most lovely and gentle fashion, though the actual ringing in of midnight was missed as B and I were too busy gabbing with our friends David and Sophie to pay attention to time. But when we finally stumbled out in the early morning, it was into a stunning scene: fresh snow sparkling like fallen stars and the world lit up by the most beautiful full blue moon ever witnessed (I’m sure of it). I have a problem. Whenever I make what I think is a cool design, I’ll make one in every colour that I can find in my bead drawers. It’s like a compulsion. One day last month I decided I would make a few toggle necklaces, with gems and charms hanging from the ring end of the toggle. Turns out ‘a few’ is 27. I haven’t gotten around to listing any in the shop yet. Seems I never get a listing bug with the same intensity to match the designing bug. I’ve got to get around to fixing that. One of the things that allows me to live out in the sticks is online shopping; I’d be lost without ready access to books, music, and the occasional accessory. I don’t buy clothes online too much, because I live in the magical land of Frenchy’s and Guy’s Frenchy’s, which renders me incapable of spending more than $5 on any given clothing item (except for winter coats, for which I will allow a splurge of up to $8). A ‘Praise Be to Frenchy’s’ post isn’t far off, but it’s one I’ll save for another day. continue reading »
